Village of Caldevilla de Valdeón
Caldevilla de Valdeón is another village in the municipality that preserves all the traditional rural charm. Representative of this is the Casa del Pueblo, a place where the neighbors were called to different acts of relevance by ringing bells.
The Village
It is located at the farthest end of the center of the Valley. It is the first of the villages to the left of the road, if you access from the port of Pontón. Caldevilla shares a parish with Soto de Valdeón, the parish of San Pedro, which is honoured during the summer holidays. The church of San Pedro is composed of an elegant cross vault and Renaissance altarpiece.
In Caldevilla 13 hórreos can be found, all of them witnesses of the transcendence of this building in the old peasant societies.
The bell used by the neighbors to communicate is still conserved in the village. It is located in the village house, a place that was divided into two parts: Toril, stable to keep the bull destined as a stallion, and the Junta, meeting place.
