Village of Posada de Valdeón

Posada de Valdeón besides being the capital of the municipality is also the tourist center of the Valley. It is the site of the main municipal services and of the Information Office of the Picos de Europa National Park.

The Village

It is of interest in this town, the visit to the Church of Santa Eulalia documented as early as 1098, which has a 16th century fresco and a 12th century Romanesque baptismal font.

Equally noteworthy is the valuable ethnographic heritage of Posada de Valdeón, which includes 8 hórreos, a recently renovated mill and the primitive “Casa de Humo”, in which the fire was lit on the floor of the house’s only room to heat the space and cook the food, and consequently the entire cabin was filled with smoke; and which constitutes one of the oldest dwellings in the Valley of which, Although its antiquity is not known, it can be said to have more than 250 years of history.
