The town has an important historical-ecclesiastical past as it was home to the Monastery of San Sebastián. This monastery is documented in the year 1093, but unfortunately none of this monumental wealth is conserved.
The Village
As in all the villages of the Valley, in Los Llanos there are 11 hórreos that demonstrate the importance of this piece of popular architecture in ancient times. In one of them, currently for decoration but formerly for use, we can observe tools for tillage and other working tools. Los Llanos also had a useful mill that disappeared with the excessive flood of 1980, which also destroyed many other material goods and cost the life of a neighbor of the town of Soto de Valdeón.
When passing through Los Llanos it is essential to stop to observe the old semicircular ovens attached to the houses, essential both to cook the bread and other food and to heat the stay.
